Weymouth Man Indicted on Vehicular Homicide Charge

The indictment came late Tuesday.

A Weymouth man has been indicted by a Norfolk County grand jury on motor vehicle homicide charges.

Stephen P. Burke, 46 received the indictment Tuesday according to the Patriot Ledger, with the case now moving from district court to superior court.

On Oct. 10 around 2 p.m., an officer working a private detail responded to a crash in the parking lot adjacent to the Southfield soccer fields. The officer allegedly observed a blue Volkswagen Jetta driven by Burke hit several vehicle and a Rockland man named Chris Williams.

Williams was taken to South Shore Hospital and later transferred to Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston with serious injuries. He later died from injuries sustained in the crash.

Burke was arrested and charged with drugged driving and negligent operation causing serious bodily injury, drunken driving and negligent operation of a motor vehicle causing serious bodily harm, drunken driving (second offense), operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.
