WHAT IS THE MULTILINGUAL PARENT COUNCIL?

The Multilingual Parent Council is a team of parents and/or guardians of Weymouth Public School students. The Multilingual Parent Council will aid in building and maintaining trusting, collaborative partnerships among parents, school staff, school leaders, and community members. Meetings will be held to support one another. Topics discussed will be heavily based on the self-identified needs of our group members.

WHY IS THIS COUNCIL IMPORTANT?

The Weymouth Public Schools are dedicated to supporting ALL students and families within our community. We value the many different experiences, languages, cultures, and customs that our students and their families bring to our schools. It is important to us that we foster a supportive and inclusive school community. The Multilingual Parent Council will ensure that all members of this community are heard, understood, and equipped with the resources needed to benefit our students.

WHEN AND WHERE WILL THIS COUNCIL MEET?

Our first meeting will be held on Wednesday, February 26th, 2020 at 5:30 p.m. at the Academy Avenue School. Meetings will take place once a month. Future meeting dates and locations are to be determined. Please check the Weymouth Parent Connection Facebook Page for updated information.

CAN I BRING MY CHILDREN?

Children of all ages are welcome to attend these meetings. While childcare will not be provided, children may stay in the room with the group for the meeting. We will provide books, computers and coloring pages for their entertainment.

HOW CAN I GET INVOLVED?

Membership is voluntary and open to all parents and/or guardians of Weymouth Public School students.
