Weymouth Suspect Sends Man to Hospital After Refusing To Pay Bar Tab

A 38-year-old Weymouth man was rushed to the hospital with severe head trauma after he was pinned between two vehicles outside of Buck's Bar & Grill Sunday night.

An argument outside Buck’s Bar & Grill in Weymouth turned ugly on St. Patrick’s Day.

A Weymouth man was chased outside at 8:36 p.m. after he refused to pay his tab. He then got into his vehicle and backed into the victim, sending him to the hospital with severe head trauma, police said.

Witnesses told Weymouth Police that Michael K. Fay, a patron at the bar, refused to pay and left the establishment.

"The victim followed him outside and demanded that he return and pay the bar tab," Weymouth Police Cpt. Richard Fuller said in a written statement.  "The suspect attempted to back out and struck the victim pinning him between two vehicles. The suspect then fled the area."

After obtaining a description of Fay and his vehicle, Weymouth officer Ryan Hamacher was able to locate and arrest him.

Fay, 48, of 61 Coolidge Ave., Weymouth, was charged with operating under the influence of alcohol (second offense), leaving the scene of an accident with personal injury, operating under the influence of alcohol causing serious bodily injury, operating to endanger, and leaving the scene of an accident with property damage. Police said he failed several field sobriety tests once his vehicle was stopped.

Cpt. Fuller said the 38-year-old Weymouth male victim was first transported to the South Shore Hospital and then Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston because of the severity of his injuries.

Fay was held overnight on $5000 cash bail. He is due to be arraigned in Quincy Court today.

Fuller said the Weymouth Police Fatal Crash Reconstruction Team is currently investigating the accident.
