Choral Scholars Program for Talented High School Singers
Andover Choral Society announces a new program for high school juniors and seniors to sing with a professional orchestra and soloists
Andover Choral Society has received grants from the Andover Cultural Council and the Lawrence Cultural Council to fund talented high school juniors and seniors from the Merrimack Valley and beyond who would like to sing with an adult community chorus. The Society is now accepting applications for this Choral Scholars program. High school students selected as Choral Scholars will rehearse and perform with the Andover Choral Society members in their May 14th concert, featuring Mozart’s Coronation Mass and Schubert’s Mass No. 3 in B-flat. Both works will be accompanied by a professional orchestra and soloists.
The Choral Scholars program is designed to enhance the high school choral experience. Students in grades 11 and 12 who are in good standing in their high school choral program are encouraged to apply. The application process includes a recommendation from the student’s high school choral director and a short audition with Andover Choral Society music director Michael Driscoll. Rehearsals will be held on Monday evenings from 7:20-9:30 p.m. at Christ Church in Andover.
Founded in 1929, the Andover Choral Society is an adult community chorus in Andover, MA that specializes in choral-orchestral masterworks.
