Boston Marathon Bombing Survivor Among Two Northeastern Students Killed in Crash

A Boston Marathon bombing survivor and her Northeastern University classmate were killed in a car accident in Dubai, according to a statement from the school. Victoria McGrath severely injured her leg at the Marathon. She became known to many after an image of a firefighter carrying her to safety surfaced online. Priscilla Perez Torres was also killed in the crash.

All but shouting into their microphones to be heard, the MBTA Fiscal and Management Control Board voted to increase rider fares Monday, amid loud disruptions from protestors who earlier caused a break in the hearing.

Pounds of pot, guns seized

Police said the plants were worth about $10,000. Police said they seized:

• A Ruger rifle
• Glock
• Dozens of rounds of ammunition and several clips
• About 3 pounds of marijuana
• Hundreds in cash
• Scales and packaging material

Students Walk Out in Protest of Budget Cuts

Shortly after the 11:30 a.m. designated walkout time - part of a nationally organized effort - the first handful of students arrived from English High School, convening at the Boston Common gazebo. Within half an hour, around 100 others joined them; that number continued to multiply throughout the afternoon.

Nurses To Picket Hosptial

The approximately 600 registered nurses at NSMC, members of the Massachusetts Nurses Association/National Nurses United (MNA/NNU), are negotiating a new contract with Partners Healthcare.
