New Wilmington Florist Opened Its Doors Thursday

Just in time for Valentine's Day, Floral Dreams offers everything from fresh cut flowers, to arrangements, home décor, balloons and more.

For years Diana Crampton dreamed of opening a florist. Today, that dream is coming true. Floral Dreams is opening its doors today just in time for Valentine’s Day.

The full service florist serving Wilmington and surrounding towns is located in Lucci’s plaza. With delivery to area hospitals and funeral homes, the florist’s retail location offers fresh cut flowers, arrangements, home décor, cards, balloons and unique gifts. It specialized in event floral design for weddings, funerals, corporate events and private functions.

Diana Crampton, along with her daughters Valeri Crampton and Kristie Cavanaugh have partnered up with floral designer Cheryl Martel (formerly of Hillside Florist in Woburn) to open Floral Dreams. The whole thing came together in only seven weeks, Cavanaugh says. Diana and her daughters are all Wilmington residents. Cheryl is from nearby Billerica.

“Our family florist (Cheryl) approached us in December about opening a new shop,” Cavanaugh says. “She has more than 30 years of industry experience and is an industry celebrity. Cheryl specializes in event floral design and we are thrilled to partner with her.”

The store’s soft opening is today, Thursday, Feb. 12 just in time for Valentine’s Day. Floral Designs plans to have a grand opening in March.

Cavanaugh says one thing the store will bring to the area in its offerings will be unique gift lines, as well as personalized embroidered gifts.

Working in retail with Wilmington area residents is not new for the family. Both Valeri and Cavanaugh work at their father’s family’s business, Champions Choice on Jewel Drive in Wilmington. Cavanaugh says they used to have a small retail store but the business grew too quickly, so they closed the retail part and moved to a large production warehouse space. Champions Choice is currently the leading adidas team dealer in the U.S. and services 90 partner schools all over New England.

“It will be nice to be able to have some hometown interaction with the community again,” Cavanaugh says. “We are so happy with the location in the Luccis plaza.”

Floral Designs store hours are Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. They will have seasonal Sunday hours.
