Wilmington Coronavirus: 241 Confirmed Cases, Masks Encouraged

WILMINGTON, MA — Over 200 Wilmington residents have tested positive for the new coronavirus, as of Wednesday afternoon, according to data released by the state. There are 241 confirmed cases in town, or 988.79 per 100,000 residents.

Nearly one in every 100 residents have tested positive for the virus.

The Wilmington Board of Health encouraged residents to wear masks in public, Tuesday.

"The Board of Health ALWAYS recommends and encourages wearing cloth face coverings in public settings where other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain," Health Director Shelly Newhouse said. "For example, going into essential establishments like grocery stores, retail stores like restaurants for pick up, pharmacies, etc."

The Health Department ran out of masks and gloves Tuesday after delivering thousands to local businesses, Newhouse said.
