Announcement of Candidacy for Winchester Planning Board

Tony Conte for Planning Board

Conte for Planning Board

As a resident of Winchester for three decades, I have had the privilege of serving our community as a town meeting member for 29 years during which time we have addressed many important issues. I feel equally privileged to been able to raise my family here. Winchester is a great town, with a charming town center, unique neighborhoods. We really have a lot to offer new, returning and seasoned residents.

This is an interesting time in our town’s history where we have to address several important concerns. We need to implement the new Central Business District development by-law to encourage small business growth and strengthen our economy. We need to address affordable housing particularly for our seniors considering downsizing, educational facilities, traffic & safety, and housing needs for young families and aging citizens. Not only do these items need to be addressed urgently, but they also must be implemented in the Master Plan so that we can preserve the quality and character of the town that we all call home.

I’m running for Planning Board not just because I want to give back to Winchester, but because I know we have to be proactive in our planning approach. I will bring the perspective of a lawyer who has dealt with real property issues throughout my career as well as bringing my experiences to the Planning Board having served as an elected City Councilor prior to moving to Winchester. It’s my experiences working collaboratively with clients and municipal departments; as well as my insight into the Winchester housing market that I will use to help build relationships that in turn build a stronger community. I will be receptive and professional to ensure that decisions that are made are fair and equitable for all concerned and the community as a whole.

On Tuesday, March 27th, I would be honored to have your vote for Planning Board.
