Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice will be speaking in Winchester on Wednesday, Oct. 27th to benefit Connect &amp; Commit, Winchester's community service-learning program. The event will be held at the McCall School Auditorium at 7:00 pm "An Evening with Condoleezza Rice" will be moderated by Pam Cross, award-winning WCVB-TV news anchor. After brief remarks and a conversation with Ms. Cross, Professor Rice will answer questions from the audience, followed by a book signing.

Solar Winds bring music of the highest quality to recital halls and schools throughout the Boston area. The five musicians who comprise the heart of Solar Winds – a traditional woodwind quintet – are professionally trained instrumentalists and music educators. You will hear Jill Dreeben, flute; Charlyn Bethell, oboe; Diane Heffner, clarinet; Sally Merriman, bassoon. 
Repertoire includes the most demanding compositions of the modern era as well as the classics, arrangements, and novelty pieces that make a woodwind concert such an unusual and delightful musical experience. “Impressions of Spring” will offer quartets for flute, oboe, clarinet, and bassoon. You will hear stunning works from Gioacchino Rossini (Quartet No. 6, written by a very young Rossini); Jean Françaix (Quatour, witty, conversational, and neo-classical); Alyssa Morris (Brush Strokes, aural representatives of Monet’s impressionism and Pollock’s drips), and Karl Eduard Goepfart (Wind Quartet, op. 93, a student of Franz Liszt).
