Errico took the open Winchester seat despite what could be described as bumpy campaign. Half of his campaign signs had been removed from private property and his vehicle was egged. On March 11, he also found two deliberately killed birds on his property.

He reportedly considered dropping out of the campaign, but announced that his campaign would continue on March 14.
