Lye Spill Closes Winchester Transfer Station Temporarily Thursday: Report
Firefighters were on scene at the Winchester Transfer Station Thursday evening.

WINCHESTER, MA—Firefighters were reportedly on scene at the Winchester transfer station Thursday evening to attend to a chemical spill, reports the Winchester Star.
Fire Chief John Nash told the Star that a rupture in a 55-gallon drum resulted in the leakage of sodium hydroxide, otherwise known as lye. As of Friday morning, the Transfer station was back up and running.
