Obituary - Charles DiMare

Charles DiMare 98, of Medford MA, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2026, reuniting with his beloved wife, Gloria, in eternal rest.

Charles and Gloria established their home together in 1952 and remained devoted to one another throughout their lives until Gloria’s passing in 2010. He was the devoted father of Patrice DiMare-Bucci of Medford and Robert DiMare of Winchester. He is also survived by his son-in-law, Dan Bucci, and daughter-in-law, Marebeth DiMare.

His grandchildren are Christopher Bucci of Arizona, Lindsay Bucci Leuth of New Hampshire, Eric DiMare of Winchester, and Devyn Baer of Winchester.

He is also survived by nine great-grandchildren, Brady, Luke, and Matthew Bucci; Michael Leuth and Gianna Gloria Leuth; Brooks and Emmy Baer; and Jones and Cy Charles DiMare. They all had fondness for “Charlie Pipe.”

Charles embodied a quiet strength and a steadfast sense of calmness, composure, and patriotism—qualities he instilled deeply in his four grandchildren, each of whom has gone on to pursue their own professional paths across the nation he so dearly loved and faithfully served. He took great pride in his service and was known to reflect on it often, frequently while wearing his U.S. Navy veteran’s hat.

Charles had a lifelong appreciation for trains and was often found enjoying his pipe.
He proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II and attended the U.S. Naval Academy Preparatory School. He later pursued a career in law, graduating from Suffolk University Law School, and remained a dedicated member of the Massachusetts Bar Association for 45 years. He also had a wonderful career with Cigna Corporation for over 45 years.

A private funeral service will be held at Costello Funeral Home in Winchester, Massachusetts.
