Police Continue Investigation of 'Hit List' Incident at Winchester High School

Winchester police chief Kenneth C. Albertelli said there are no immediate threats.

The Winchester Police Department is continuously investigating the incident at Winchester High School where a student allegedly targeted peers on a ‘hit list.’

“The Winchester Police Department continues to actively investigate this case, and our officers are having productive discussions with the school department and those involved,” Winchester police chief Kenneth C. Albertelli said.

Albertelli does not believe there are any immediate threats.

The student responsible for the ‘hit list’ will not be in school on Monday and Tuesday, Superintendent of Schools William McAlduff said.

Classes resumed on Monday and the the school is taking steps to address the safety and emotional needs of the students, parents and staff.

Winchester High School sent out a letter to families addressing the steps they will take to ensure school safety.

The school plans to:

  • Increase the presence of Winchester Police Department on campus.
  • Receive support from law enforcement, educators and clinicians.
  • Help students and staff who need emotional support at guidance, nurse and administrative offices.
  • Review the lock-down procedure and response plan.
  • Make an effort to decrease student’s cell phone usage to prevent the spreading of rumors and false information.

“We greatly appreciate the partnership and cooperation shown by the public and the Winchester Public Schools,” Albertelli said.
