Roger Tincknell Performs on the Commons
Local residents were treated to a kid-centered musical show Wednesday night at the Commons.
Family-friendly, singer/songwriter Roger Tincknell took to the Winchester Commons before a constantly growing group of around 70 people and preformed his happy, kid-centric brand of folk music Wednesday night at 7 p.m.
"Dancing is allowed, in fact it's encouraged," said the bearded, all smiles Tincknell as he welcomed Winchester on a warm Wednesday night.
Several little ones soon took Tincknell's advice and before long, a group of young children were bouncing around, singing, clapping and enjoying the family-friendly tunes as Tincknell started to sing his set of original and old folk favorites.

"It's curriculum based music." Tincknell said. "I specialize in family affairs and in playing at schools for kids. I just love it."
Winchester resident and attendee with her two little girls, Ruth R., commented on what Tincknell said when she stated, "I come for the very kid friendly shows, they're great entertainment."

Boston native, little 5-year old Amifhai, and his parents, traveled in from the city to specifically see Tincknell perform. A long time fan of Tincknell, Amifhai couldn't wait to see him perform again. "He's good, that's what I'm saying, because I've seen him before!"
Amifhai then could no longer contain his joy and began bounding around the Common grasses as Tincknell fell back on an old classic of "I've Been Working on the Railroad," the theme song of the night.
As for Tincknell himself, he's been performing for over 30 years, in bands and as he was Wednesday night, as a solo act. Tincknell is a former teacher and primarily plays his music in schools for educational purposes.
He has over 12 years as a classroom teacher and music specialist in his background, Ticnknell has also worked as an Artist-in-Residence, pioneering programs in multicultural education and special needs curriculum development.
Tincknell went through a slue of standards and originals while young and old alike clapped and sang along.
