Have you ever dreamed of building your own house, school, or even a fire station? Do you love animals? In this hands-on week, you’ll bring your ideas to life using cardboard and imagination to create BOTH!
Throughout the week, you’ll explore the design process—from planning and problem-solving to building and improving your structure. You’ll design and construct a cardboard building inspired by a real-life place of your choice, adding recognizable details like doors, windows, roofs, and textures. You’ll experiment with depth, structure, and craftsmanship to make your building sturdy, detailed, and unique. After you paint and finish your building, you will work together with others to place it in a purpose-built Studio on the Common neighborhood, seeing how your creation fits into a shared community.
But that’s not all! You will also work on creating your own animal using all the same skills. League of Women Voters of Winchester and League of Women Voters of Melrose are holding a forum featuring the candidates running for the Democratic nomination for the 5th Middlesex State Senate seat this fall. This seat is currently occupied by Jason Lewis, who is not running for re-election. This district includes Malden, Melrose, Reading, Stoneham, Wakefield, and Winchester.

The forum will be on Saturday, August 8 at 2:00 PM and can be viewed live online on Stoneham TV at <a href="https://u.peg.tv/s/tdsaa1" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://u.peg.tv/s/tdsaa1</a> . It will be available later for viewing on the Stoneham TV website. As part of our commitment to foster an informed electorate, LWV Winchester and LWV Melrose invite members of the public to submit questions they would like the candidates to answer during the forum. Gather your friends or make it a date night at our adults-only sip and spin class! Perfect for beginners: you'll learn the fundamentals of throwing on the wheel and glazing before the final firing and get a taste of what our longer wheel throwing courses are like. We provide snacks and mocktails!

NOTE: This is a 2 night series. You'll throw your pieces in the first session and glaze them in the second session after a bisque firing in between. Please read our Cancellation Policy before registering. We are unable to offer credits or refunds for missed classes with less than 7-days notice. If you attend the first session, but are unable to make the 2nd session, we will be happy to dip your pieces in clear glaze for you, so they will be beautiful and strong.
