Two Winchester Schools Recognized for High Academic Achievement

51 Massachusetts schools will receive a commemorative certificate at the State House on Feb. 1

WINCHESTER, MA — Winchester's Lincoln and Vinson-Owen Elementary Schools will be honored at the Massachusetts State House in Boston on Feb. 1 for its high academic achievements in 2016. The two schools were recently named as a Massachusetts Commendation School for 2016.

Massachusetts' Commissioner of Elementary and Secondary Education Mitchell D. Chester recognized 51 schools for high achievement, high progress, narrowing proficiency gaps or a combination of both.

Both Lincoln and Vinson-Owen were recognized for high achievement and high progress specifically.

Schools will receive a commemorative certificate at the State House on Feb. 1. Commendation is earned by performance on Massachusetts standardized tests, according to the announcement.
