Winchester Historical Commission Votes to Postpone Demolition Bylaw Articles
The Winchester Historical Commission has voted to support the indefinite postponement of Articles 6 and 7 on the Town Meeting Warrant.

WINCHESTER, MA—It seems now seems more likely that a decision on articles 6 and 7 on the town meeting warrant will be indefinitely postponed, as the Winchester Historical Commission has voted to postpone the controversial demolition articles.
Winchester Historical Commission director Heather von Mering confirmed with Patch that the commission has voted to postpone articles 6 and 7 from the Town Meeting warrant during its meeting Friday. The commission will address the Town at Town Meeting Monday regarding the decision.
The articles would allow the Historical Commission to review any applications for demolitions of homes before 1940, should the homeowner look to demolish the home, according to the Town Meeting warrant.

According to a report by the Winchester Star, a group privately financed the mailing of a postcard urging voters to vote against the articles. In addition, the Star's report states that members of the Winchester Residents' Facebook page engaged in argument both for and against the articles.
Town Meeting begins Monday at the Winchester High School Auditorium at 7 p.m. Here is a guide with information regarding Town Meeting, via the Town of Winchester Website.
