The Winchester Soccer Club (WSC) announces that two coaches, Julie Everett and Jim Neyman, are the recipients of the 2011 Carl Ockerbloom Coach of the Year Award.
The Club received a record number of nominations from the membership through the online nomination process, and a selection committee that included Carl’s wife, Marie Ockerbloom, made the final selections. The Winchester Soccer Club’s Coach of the Year Award was dedicated to the memory of Carl Ockerbloom in 2005 after his passing from cancer. Carl was an active soccer coach and parent of three girls in the program over the years.

Each year the WSC awards this honor to Coaches who exemplify the best qualities of youth coaching: good sportsmanship, the ability to teach the game in a way that is positive and fun for kids, and a willingness to go above and beyond for his/her team.
Through this process, Coach Everett's team enthusiastically nominated her because: “She always motivates her players to do their best and coaches in an engaging manner”, “Her guidance with the kids is unmatched…has a true love of soccer and ensures, win or lose, kids are respectful to their opponents and referees”, “each player leaves the field feeling successful…” , “every practice and every game Julie [Everett] brings her all to the field and the boys respond to her positive and uplifting approach”.

Coach Neyman's team had this to say about him in their nominations: “He coaches his players to play with heart, a passion for the game and support for their teammates”… “Coach Neyman is always enthusiastic and tells his players how proud he is of them…”, “Coach never got frustrated or lost his patience…he encouraged his players to always play hard”
The recipients, Julie Everett and Jim Neyman, were recognized and awarded Coach of the Year jackets at the monthly Board of Director’s meeting recently.
The Club thanked both coaches for their dedication and for exemplifying the best qualities of youth coaching.
There are many great coaches involved with Winchester Soccer Club, the largest youth sports organization in Winchester, and this award is the Club’s way of thanking them. We offer a special thanks and congratulations to Coaches of the Year 2011 Julie Everett and Jim Neyman.
