Winchester Unemployment Rate Declines

The state continues to add jobs, though the picture is less clear community to community.

The state's unemployment rate, ticked down another tenth of a percentage point, according to figures released by the state's Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development. The May rate is 5.8 percent, down from 5.9 percent in April. The state gained 17,000 jobs over the month.

The trend line isn't as clear at the city-by-city level, according to figures released Tuesday by Workforce Development. Some communities, including Winchester and Boston, continued to lower their rates, while others saw an uptick in unemployment.

At 3.9 percent, Winchester's rate has ticked down one-tenth of a percentage point.
