Winchester Workers Spend All Night in the Cold Fixing Water Main Break
The frigid weather was the cause of the break, Town officials said.

Workers spent the night fixing a water main break that occurred close to 50 Cross St. on Wednesday afternoon.
The 6-inch water main break came in around 4:30 p.m.
It was a long, tough and cold job, said Jim Gibbons, acting Water and Sewer Operations Manager.

“The guys did a great job and worked all through the night and into today,” he said.
The cold and dry weather was the cause of the break. Even a few inches of snow on the ground would have helped insulate the pipes, Gibbons said.

Gibbons said he is hopeful that no other water main breaks will occur.
