Youth Programs at Wright-Locke Farm
Spots still available in our spring and summer programs!
Wright-Locke Farm’s youth education programs offer children a unique, hands-on experience learning about farming and the natural world on a historic working farm. All of our programs include lessons and activities related to agriculture, the environment, or natural science while utilizing the fields, pastures, barns, and wooded trails as our living classroom. Specific subject focuses include soil, compost, worms, plants, Wright-Locke Farm’s domesticated animals (sheep, goats, chickens, honeybees), land conservation, farm history, select wildlife (plants, animals, insects, fungi), and more. Daily activities include visiting or caring for our farm animals, cooking healthy and seasonal dishes to try, tending our two youth gardens, and free choice time to partake in games, arts and crafts, and more.
This year’s selection of spring and summer youth programs for children in preschool through grade 8 includes the following:
- April Vacation Programs (held April 18-22)
- Spring After School Programs (meet once a week over 6 weeks starting week of May 2)
- Preschool Programs in the spring, summer, and fall
- Limited availability in our Summer Vacation Programs (Mon-Fri programs start week of June 27)
Students in middle and high school may help out with activities such as seasonal field tasks and farm education programs. Learn more about volunteer opportunities on our website.
