Another tough outing for Woburn's E1 Mite Mite's Pop Warner football team in Reading
Woburn Pop Warner E1 Mite Mites
On September 29, 2013, a heavy foggy Sunday morning our E1 Mite Mites took the field in Reading, MA. You could hardly see across the field, but our football stars had no problems playing football in these conditions. Our team captains for this cool, damp, foggy morning were Justin Nicolas (#2), Jordon Branson (#7) and Wick’s Edwards (#9). We started off the game on a fast track; our first offensive possession we moved the ball down the field by “X” Etienne (#21) for 25 yards, Hayden Laprede (#33) for 5 yards and Jordon Branson (#7) for a total of 23 yards and a Trojan touchdown. “X” Etienne (#21) punched the ball in for our extra point. Our offensive line was making some tremendous blocks for our backfield players, so they were able to get through and move the ball down the field. The offensive line was playing awesomely; the line included Matthew McCarthy (#6), Wick’s Edwards (#9), Hannah Nowell (#53), Mitchell Riccardi (#57), Matthew Mercer (#63), Brian Oliveira (#65) and Matthew O’Connor (#73). Our defense provided by Jordon Branson (#7), Wick’s Edwards (#9), “X” Etienne (#21), Tyler Gillardon(#23), Juan Canegas (#30), Hayden Laprede (#33), Devin Vieria (#41), Matthew O’Connor (#73), Mitchell Riccardi (#57), Brian Oliverra (#65) and Joseph Silva (#81). On our first defensive series Juan Vanegas (#30 stripped the ball from Reading, and Hayden Laprede (#33) was there to recover the fumble. On the first offensive play of that series “X” Etienne (#21) ran for 63 yards for another Trojans touchdown. The defense was pounding their line and creating pressure on reading’s quarterback; Hayden Laprede (#33) was sneaking through their line and creating Reading’s offense to slow down. Numerous Trojans had some great tackles and some great solo tackles as well: they were by Jordon Branson (#7), “X” Etienne (#21), Hayden Laprede (#33), Devin Vieria (#41) and Mitchell Riccardi (#57). At the end of the first half, the Trojans were up 13-7.
The second half of the game the fog was lifting and our defense was on the field a lot, and they were getting a little winded. We had some significant stands on Readings extra point attempts; these were led by “X” Etienne (#21) who had a huge tackle, Hayden Laprede (#33) had another big block and tackle and on the third extra point attempt was stopped by a plethora of E1 Mite Mite Trojans. Our Trojans fell a little short this week against Reading the final score was 25-13.
