A Package's Silver Lining Brightens the Holidays

Yesterday I was on Twitter, as usual, when I clicked on a link that blew me away and inspired me to write this post. It's a great feeling to get inspiration from something, and this simple photograph got me thinking some very deep thoughts!

My friend Liz Smith, also known as @MadeInLowell on Twitter, is a craftperson who makes by hand all kinds of items, including sewing and crafting accessories, jewelry, knitted brooches, coffee cup cozy's and much much more. Yesterday, one of her treasures was photographed on a blog which I linked to, and my jaw dropped.

I was taken back by how beautifully Liz packages her products. She puts so much care and effort into the delivery of her product, which shows purchasers that she cares about them. Liz does not just throw something into a padded envelope with an invoice. She carefully places the trinket in a box, artfully wraps it with cute string or ribbon, and includes handmade gift tags!!! 

In this day and age, it seems that a lot of people just don't care.  From getting poor service at a restaurant, to being blocked from merging into another lane, to completely apathetic customer service representatives, it seems that there is a lot of unhappiness out there. It seems many people are miserable, and it translates into how they interact with consumers.
