Hello to my faithful Woburn Patch blog readers. I apologize it’s been a while since I have been able to write. Life has been crazy lately. Maybe it is the on-set of the summer weather, or maybe it is just the universe, but it’s been a non-stop ride. Along the way I have been wracking my brain of what to write for my readers. I have started many blogs … all of which are sitting unfinished in my computer. I would start something, then have to stop and suddenly be inspired by something else. So this week I’m going to share with you a few reviews of some things that have kept me so busy.
Movie night: The Hangover Two … All the funny characters return and find themselves in the same situation. Drugged and late for a wedding. Hilarity ensues while they stumble through faded memories of an insane night. All and all a good movie, but I found it to be a bit more risqué than the first. There was a lot more nudity and downright gross situations. Also, I found it a bit predictable. Part of what made the first one so funny was the unexpected. No one expected Chow to jump out of a trunk, or no one could tell what Allen would say, but with this one, you can kind of tell what will happen.
Dinner: What is movie night without dinner? We decided to grab something quick at the which is next door to the . We started with to-die-for Boneless Buffalo Wings. I have to admit I wasn’t expecting them to be so good. Then I got a cheeseburger, figuring I can’t go wrong with a simple classic choice. Unfortunately I was wrong. I asked for it medium-well, but when I got it, the middle was so raw I lost my appetite. The waitress was less then accommodating and kept disappearing somewhere and took forever to come back. But all and all, a good place for a drink and some wings while watching a game, but I wouldn’t go further than an appetizer.

Glee … Live: Tuesday night I was lucky enough to attend Glee at the TD Garden. They were preceded by a somewhat interesting opening act called The League of Extraordinary Dancers (LXD). All I can say about them is “eeeh.” When they did dance, they were extremely talented, but unfortunately they didn’t dance that much. They tried to do this story book theme … I think. The whole concept was quite confusing. All I could think of was the Jabbawockeez … Now that is a dance troop. The Jabbawockeez were full-out dancing from the minute they hit the stage. With LXD I kept waiting for something to happen and then before I knew it, it was over.
Now it was Glee’s turn. All the Gleeks (that’s what Glee fans affectionately call themselves) were waiting with high anticipation for their favorites to take the stage. The entire cast from the show was there: Kurt, Finn, Puck, Artie, Sam, Quinn, Britney, Mercedes, Santana, Lauren, Rachel and even Blaine from the rival Wabblers.

The opened the show with “Don’t Stop Believin’" and the crowd went wild. The crowd, consisted of tweens and high schoolers (with a few parents sprinkled in that got stuck in the cheap seats so their kid could sit near the stage). I think it was a terrific way to start the show. And I have to hand it to the cast. It was superb.
After the opening, the cast then alternated between the main stage and a smaller stage that was set up near the back of the arena. Every cast member had their “solo” time. The most memorable “solo” pieces to me were Rachel’s “Firework” by Katy Perry and Artie’s “Safety Dance."
Anyone who watches the show knows who The Wabblers are and last night they stole the show. Their rendition of “Teenage Dream” gave me chills. Everyone was secretly hoping they would re-live the moment from the show affectionately known has “Gap Attack” but sadly they did not.
The encore was a three song set with Jay-Z’s “New York,” Kurt’s rendition of “Single Ladies,” and they finished out the night with “Someone to Love”… All I could think is Freddy Mercury must be spinning in his grave. All and all, though, it was a fun show for anyone that is a Glee fan.
Coming up this week, I have a trip to Kimball Farms for some ice cream and games along with NKOTB and BSB at Fenway. Maybe I'll fill you guys in on those next week. Until then … GO BRUINS!
