Hello again, Woburn. As I sit here having my coffee this morning (one of the advantages of second shift), I am looking out at my little corner of N. Woburn and I am amazed at how the trees are budding so early, the peepers have been playing music to put us to sleep by at night, and the many birds making an early return.
I got to thinking about this whole Global Warming thing. If this is Global Warming, why complain?
This is good living right now.

Normally I use two tons of pellets heating my house over the winter; this year I have half a ton left. The oil burner only worked to heat the water for showering and washing this year.
So I wonder: Is it global warming? Or is it Mother Nature pressing her "reset" button?

I mean, the last four years, weather-wise, we have been beaten—2009 spring/summer brought rain nearly every day. Remember that? Then winter 2009/ 2010 brought outrageous snowfalls. The likes of which have not been seen for many years. Then oppressive heat the summer of 2010. This past year, we had hurricanes, and tornadoes destroyed parts of Western Mass, and an October snowstorm that wreaked havoc on trees full of leaves and power lines.
So maybe this easy warm winter was Mother Nature's way of saying,"You win...I threw my toughest pitches at you, and you still perservered." I prefer to think that is what is going on here. I push Al Gore and his warnings to the back of my mind, and I think, "Wow. Thank you, Mother Nature. Thanks for the respite. Thanks for the warmth. Thanks for taking it easy on us."
Now I await what wildlife will emerge, I hope the deer are plentiful, and the turleys are huge, and we get to have many sightings of them this year.
