Great Wine & Food Pairings: Taste for Yourself June 15

Background and information on June 15 SCI wine and food pairing event at the Griffin Museum.

Do you like wine and food, but are not sure how to make them work together well?  Maybe you know red wine goes with meat dishes, but suspect there might be more to a good food and wine pair.  Or perhaps you're a bit more advanced on your wine and food journey—you know that asparagus is tough to pair with wine, and would like some tips on that one.

Well, if any of these themes resonate with you, the upcoming Social Capital Inc.  (SCI) wine & food pairing fundraising event on June 15 is the place to be!  When I'm not working at building social capital with SCI or running around with my five year-old, you will often find me in the kitchen cooking up something good—and serving it with a wine that enhances the the meal.  I will be be preparing a few of the items served at the upcoming pairing event.  Hopefully that is an incentive, not a deterrent!  More on my cooking and wine sampling adventures can be found on my Cooking Chat blog.

But don't worry, we are joined in this event by some professional experts in pairing good food and wine.  If you have any interest in food and wine, you are sure to enjoy chatting with the owners of Pairings Wine and Food.  Lori and Ray Schaefer love to travel the wine world and bring back some excellent finds, and serve it with foods that complement the wine (or vice-versa!).  They have helped us choose some tasty and interesting wines to sample that should match well with our food line-up; and will be on available to share some tips about wine and food pairing.

This event is taking place at an interesting venue, the Griffin Museum of Photography in Winchester.  Now, I know we're supposed to stay local here on Woburn Patch, but hey, Winchester was part of Woburn until the middle of the 19th century.  And the event benefits our Woburn-based nonprofit organization, SCI.  SCI is based in Woburn, but serves a total of ten Massachusetts communities, so we do hold some events outside of our hometown.

For more details on the June 15 event and to RSVP, visit the event on our Facebook page. Of course, I'll keep an eye out for any comments or questions you might share here about the event.
