Junior Varsity Boys Track Wraps Up a Great Season

The JV boys track team started their season with a bang – a bang of the gun that is. Coach Joe Curran always says “go on the B and not the G,” and that is exactly what they did.  The boys distinguished themselves at the JV Boy’s Championship meet on Thursday, February 1st.

They were placed in most of the events, such as the 1,000 meter, 300 meter, 45 meter hurdles, and last but certainly not least, the 4 by 400 meter relay race. According to junior Andrew Lindquist, their effort and determination really showed that Woburn was there to give it all they had.

“Knowing it was our last chance to show ourselves, our team, and the League what we’re capable of, we ran our hardest and put our months of training to good use,” Lindquist commented.

They came a long way and weren’t going to back down at all as they faced the big championship meet. Junior Brad Stiffler explained the willpower and unity of his relay team.

“We all wanted to win and we knew if we didn’t run our hardest, we weren’t just letting ourselves down but the team also,” Bradley stated.

When asked what the best part of the meet was, junior Christian Lundin had a lot to say about his team.

“I would have to say the best thing about the meet was seeing everyone put in the effort they did to their events,” said Lundin. “I know we have the strongest JV team in the League because all our boys leave everything on the track every JV meet, and that’s what I love about our team. And beating Reading in the relay, of course,” said Lundin.

Another teammate, junior Randy Parceiro who was also on the winning relay team, described his favorite moments of the 2012-2013 track season.

“The best part for me about this season was all the fun I had doing my best, and being around people who have fun doing it too. Plus, everyone has a common goal competing to be the best JV team in [the] Middlesex [League],” Parceiro said.

However, the JV boys aren’t about to take a vacation next year; they will still be running and chasing after honor, victory, and pride of boys track with determination.

“The next season, we JV’s are going to need to step up a notch and fill the varsity spots left empty by graduating seniors,” Lindquist stated.

It seems like these boys are definitely ready to take on that responsibility and make the varsity team proud.
