Well, hello again!
In my job, I am able to spend most of my working day driving around Woburn and neighboring communites.
I've noticed something.

Pothole season is here, it's not as bad as other years due to the unseasonable weather we had for most of the winter. Nevertheless, They are popping up. here in North Woburn, most every street has them.
But here's something to think about—the patches the DPW uses are better than the roads!

I wonder if there is a master plan back on N.Warren St. maybe it goes something like this: If we just patch all the potholes, the roads will be better than the pavement thats already there, if we just patch, patch, patch, in about 3 years time we will have repaved pretty much every road in the city one hole at a time!
Of course, this is tongue-in-cheek, I know that funds for infrastructure are not so plentiful. But, I think a section of the city at a time needs to be repaved. It doesn't matter where. Just start. Start in West Woburn, the South End, anywhere at all.
In our world at this end of the city, there are almost no streets that do not need paving. Start at the Wilmington line and pick a side street, any side street. It's a mess!
And it's the same at any corner of the city.
N.Woburn is about to get very busy. With the gravel operation pending (which the Mayor turns a blind eye to) to the St. Anthony proposal coming fast, and the drive-through about to open (that's another story), the traffic that's about to fill the sides streets of N. Woburn will make this end of town a commuter's nightmare!
I say get a start on paving now, not a patch at a time, but the whole shooting match. Have you driven down any of these side roads? You're in for a ride! Of course, there's that fictitous plan at the DPW, patch one hole at a time until the whole street is done. (It brings that old song to mind,"Patches I'm depending on ya, son...")
I do feel sorry for the folks on many of these streets, the traffic on them this summer will be fast and furious. I'm lucky in that I live on a dead end. Actually, that may be a money maker for me, I can park about 20 cars here, and I could shuttle people down the side roads to work for a fee.....
Hmmmmmm, yeah, that could work. Less traffic for you, money for me!
