On Wednesday night, June 15, 2011 Bruins fans young and old, male and female, all had a dream come true. For the first time in 39 years, the Boston Bruins became the Stanley Cup champions.
Fans all over the city rejoiced.
Many thought they would go their whole lives without ever seeing Lord Stanley’s Cup come back to Boston. Many of us watched in amazement as the team skated around the ice in Vancouver hoisting the cup above their heads.

Still today, days later, people are saying “I can’t believe they won.” As a Bruins fan, I was frightened I would wake up only to find it was all a dream. But, my friends, I am happy to report that it was not a dream…it did happen.
The Bruins brought us home the cup solidifying Boston as The City of Champions. Since 2004 all of our major sports teams have brought us home a title: Red Sox World Series Champ 2004 & 2007, Patriots Superbowl Champs 2005, and Celtics NBA Champions in 2008.

As the song says “Well I love that dirty water, Oh, Boston, you're my home” and we do … As is evident in our undying allegiance to our teams. We are definitely a sports city. Whether our teams are winning or not, we are forever faithful. We have coined the phrase “Still we believe” because as Boston fans we always do. We have weathered curses and injuries and still we always remain faithful to our teams and to our city. Sure, sometimes it is hard to fend off the haters and hard to believe when we feel like we are being let down. But we always return the next season wearing our favorite jerseys and cheering on our guys.
The Bruins are the 2011 Stanley Cup Champions (I just like saying it). Saturday morning, we will line the streets from The Garden to Copley to catch a glimpse of the cup and show our guys how proud they have made us to be Bostonians. As the duck boats make their way through the streets of Boston during the rolling rally we will get to take a breath and have it be real….the cup is back in Boston.
