The Great Giveaway Was Awesome

I love The Great Giveaway!!  Every year, it never ceases to amaze me how many people come out for it - both volunteers from GENESIS, and people from the community.  This year we were specifically praying that 600 people would come, and God totally blew us away when over 800 people showed up!!!  

It took us a month to collect all of the items that were given away, a week to organize it all, and about 3 hours to put it all out on display.  Over 120 volunteers came to help that day, and in the weeks leading up to it.  People began lining up at the top of the driveway by about 7:30am, and by 9:30am there were over 300 people waiting.  When the "doors" opened at 10am, about 400 people ran in! Within the first hour, almost everything was gone, but people kept coming and stayed to enjoy the fun for another hour or so.  By the time it was all over, we'd grilled and given away about 1,000 hotdogs, a ton of popcorn & cotton candy to 800 adults and a couple hundred children.  The kids played games, got their faces painted, and jumped in the bouncy house.  There were so many people, and so much going on, I was totally overwhelmed!  It was NUTS!  But SO FUN!  I seriously can't wait to do it again next year!!!!
