As high school dance season begins to wind down once again, Woburn Memorial High School begins prepare to roll out the red carpet for its 2nd annual promenade. This new tradition is once being hosted by WMHS after much success from last year’s event. This Thursday May 23, the class of 2013 is inviting family, friends, and the Woburn community to take part in celebrating this momentous occasion with them.
From 4:00-5:30 p.m, seniors along with their guests, will be formally announced in the Torrice Gymnasium as they walk down the red carpet to showcase their prom attire. Participation by students is optional and students are not required to be accompanied with a guest to participate. Students without a guest are highly encouraged to attend.

This year, the WMHS administration plans to exceed the community’s expectations with the experience from last year’s promenade. This extravagant community gathering is run with the help of Student Council advisors, history teachers Kim Vogel and Dana Seitz, along with fine art teacher and department chair Susan Thifault who can be seen snapping photos of students as they briefly stop to smile for a true Hollywood moment.
Student council advisor Kim Vogel expresses her enthusiasm for planning the occasion.

“The promenade is basically a wonderful way for the community to come together to see every dressed up. It began with last year’s senior class and the kids really enjoyed it, so we thought we’d carry it on this year. Many students spend hundreds of dollars on tuxedos and dresses, so the promenade is a great way to show it off,” said Vogel.
As friends and family are seated on the bleachers, the event is perfect for capturing memories of the senior class before they set off on the next chapter of their lives. Why fly to Hollywood when you can experience all the glitz and glamour right at home?
Senior class president and valedictorian Mike Paladino elaborates on his excitement.
“It’s a fantastic community event, with everyone coming down to cheer us seniors on before we graduate,” Paladino said. “It’s a great tradition and I think it will last for a long, long time.”
After all students have been introduced, photo opportunities will continue as guests are welcomed are take photos on school grounds. At 5:30, seniors will depart for the senior prom in their choice of transportation, arriving at the Danversport Yacht Club at 6:30.
So, make your way down to Woburn Memorial High School and celebrate the Tanner pride with this year’s senior class. It is just one of the many traditions we can say that is ours. Although the evening will have to come to an end, the memories will always be remembered.
