Woburn's 6th Annual Relay for Life

Woburn will host its 6th Relay for Life, to benefit the American Cancer Society, on May 18-19, 2012.  The event, which begins at 6:00 p.m., is an overnight walk at Library Field.  Relay for Life starts with a survivor lap, an inspirational time for everyone to rally and celebrate the victories we’ve achieved over cancer.  After dark, silence falls and we walk to just the light of luminaria lanterns as we remember loved ones who lost their battles with cancer.  At midnight, Woburnites will participate in a fight back ceremony and make personal commitments and pledges to save lives.

Relay for Life builds an incredible sense of power and togetherness within our community.  Games, activities, food, raffles and more will all be part of the early evening fun and the general public is encouraged to attend.  Youth sports teams, scout groups, and families are also invited to come and participate as group during the early portion of the event.

Ways to Get Involved

WALKERS – Recruit your friends, family, teammates, or co-workers and start a team!  Teams can consist of up to 15 participants.  Starting a team is EASY!  Visit www.relayforlife.org/woburnma and click the “Sign Up” button on the top right.  Then invite your people to join your team and to also join you in your fundraising efforts.

SURVIVORS – Woburn’s Relay for Life supports members of our community who have been affected by cancer.  All cancer survivors and caregivers are invited to participate in a special survivor lap followed by a free dinner and reception.  This takes place immediately following the opening ceremony.   You can register as a survivor at www.relayforlife.org/woburnma by clicking the “Sign Up” button on the top right.

SPONSORS – Local businesses as well as larger corporations who are interested in sponsoring the 2012 Relay for Life event are also welcome.  Benefits include your company’s name and/or logo in the program, on signage at the event, or more.  Benefits are dependent on the size of the donation.  Those interested in sponsoring the event should contact Rebecca Harnois at 781-314-2678.
