Woman Hit By Tree In Woburn Expected To Survive
Crews used the jaws of life and airbags to lift the tree off the woman, who was picking up her child at Wyman Elementary School.

WOBURN, MA -- A woman who was picking up her child at the Wyman Elementary School in Woburn was seriously injured Friday when a tree and two utility poles came crashing down on Main Street. The child was unhurt and the woman is expected to survive.
Rescue crews cut power to the area and then used airbags and the jaws of life to lift the tree off of the woman, according to Kathryn Sotnik of NBC Boston, who was the first to report this story in a Twitter post. While initial reports said the tree had hit a mother and child, Sotnik updated her report to say that only a woman had been hit by the tree and injured.
"The tree that fell on the lady is massive," Jamey Gadoury said in an email to Woburn Patch. "Can hear the compressor running. The boys and girls club is out of power, and they were calling parents to get kids sent home. "
