City Council Elects Alderman Lindsay Higgins As New President
Alderman Michael Anderson stepped down as president due to his appointment as a state judge.
WOBURN, MA — The Woburn City Council elected Alderman Lindsay Higgins president, Tuesday, replacing Michael Anderson.
Anderson was confirmed as a new state Probate and Family Court judge, July 15. To begin his new role, he will have to depart the council, as he is barred from serving an elected office.
Anderson made the first nomination for Higgins, who was elected unanimously.

Anderson plans to resign from the council before its next meeting, but did not share a more specific plan than that.

Higgins, an attorney like Anderson, was first elected to represent Ward 7 in 2015.
