In Loving Memory of Jayne Marie Moriarty

Jayne Marie Moriarty was born on November 4, 1962, as one of God’s special children. She was deaf, unable to speak, and lived with hydrocephalus and mobility challenges. Despite this, Jayne radiated joy, love, and a beautiful smile that touched everyone she met.

At the age of 11, Jayne moved to a group home for additional support. Years later, after signs of abuse were discovered, her sister Dawn Richards brought Jayne home and became her devoted caregiver for the next 28 years—while bravely fighting cancer four times herself. Jayne also attended a day program five days a week for over 30 years, where she was treated with dignity and respect and formed countless friendships.

Together with her family, she attended parades, marveled at dazzling light shows, and treasured the simple joy of riding out for her favorite treat lemon lime slush. Christmas was a magical time for Jayne; the twinkling lights and festive decorations lit up her spirit, joy sparkling in her eyes.

But in early October, the unthinkable happened. A fall left Jayne with a broken hip. Although she started walking again quickly, her health took an unexpected turn for the worse. With heavy hearts, we said goodbye to our sweet Jayne on December 11, 2025. Her absence leaves an ache that echoes, a reminder of the joy she brought into our lives and the love that will always bind us to her memory.

Jayne and Dawn's home was a sanctuary, a place filled with laughter and countless cherished moments that spanned decades. Now, in the wake of Jayne’s passing, we find ourselves reaching out for your support to honor her memory and help her beloved sister, Dawn. At 79, Dawn is facing tremendous financial strain, as she has lost the assistance she relied on when her sister was by her side. To compound her struggles, she is currently healing from an injury with a long journey ahead of her.
