Chorlton commented on how this event came together when she said, “This is our first year, which started out by several committed Lions getting together focusing on a joint cause and wanting to give back to our community in some way. As chairman, I was fortunate to bring the Woburn Middlesex Lions Club, the Host Lions Club, the Woburn Breakfast Club and the Winchester Lions Club to come together and produce an event that had never taken place before, benefit a worthy cause and create a family-oriented event showing off our beautiful Horn Pond.”

Money raised at Horn Pond Day will go towards the Massachusetts Lions Eye Research Fund, a Lions Club fund that focuses on aiding in the study and treatment of ocular troubles whether it's dealing with blindness or eye-related diseases, such as glaucoma. To date, the Massachusetts Lions Eye Research Fund has constructed a vision research center at Boston University, spearheaded the creation of several new medications to fight ocular problems, and even helped to reconstruct the classic “Coke” bottle look of glasses to be more streamlined and effective.

“This has turned out to be very large community effort made possible by the entire community of Woburn and Winchester," said Chorlton. "We hope to raise money for Mass Lions Eye Research and at the same time, bring families out and have fun and enjoy the day.”
