It's a G'Day at the Library!

Wallaby and other Australian animals visit Woburn Public Library Thursday.

There aren't many times that you'll catch a wallaby in Woburn. But for about 130 children, teens and adults yesterday, they were able to do just that.

Rick Roth of Creature Teachers brought some of his Australian animals to the Woburn Public Library yesterday for an educational program held outside in the shade.

"The kookaburra entertained the crowd by hooting and laughing with a little encouragement, and the attempted escape of a nine-month old wallaby created excitement," said Cynthia Fordham of the library. "We were introduced to many unusual creatures, including a bearded dragon, a blue-tongued skink, a cane toad (not native to Australia, but now overrunning the country), tree frogs, a pink and grey cockatoo, and a clever umbrella cockatoo which was able to escape from his cage in two seconds."
