Medford SafePlace: Support Group for Suicide Survivors

Medford SafePlace support group for those that have lost a loved one to suicide.

SafePlace is an open group for people who have lost a loved

one to suicide. It provides an atmosphere of acceptance for exploring feelings

that are often not understood by others. These meetings are free, on-going, and drop in – there is no registration necessary. Trained volunteers and staff from Samaritans, a statewide suicide prevention organization, facilitate this group.

All of the participants are suicide survivors and facilitators have lost

someone to suicide as well.

The Medford SafePlace group meets on the first and third Thursday

of every month from 7:30 – 9:30 p.m. at the Grace Episcopal Church located

at 160 High Street, 2nd Floor, Medford, MA  02155. For more information about SafePlace and other services offered by

Samaritans, please contact the Grief Support Services team at safeplace@samaritanshope.org or

617-536-2460.

Samaritans’ mission is to reduce the incidence of suicide by

alleviating despair, isolation, distress and suicidal feelings among

individuals in our community, 24 hours a day; to educate the public about

suicide prevention; and to reduce the stigma associated with suicide.
