National Geographic Geography Bee: Woburn Student to Compete in State Championships
The National Geographic Geography Bee State Championships begin April 1.

WOBURN, MA—Joyce Middle School's own Tara Metters will be competing in the National Geographic Massachusetts State Geography Bee Friday, and organizations around Woburn showed their support.
Metters will take on up to 100 students from across the Commonwealth in the bee, competing for a spot in the National Geography Been in May. State Bee champions will receive $100, the National Geographic book “The National Parks: An Illustrated History," a medal and will journey to Washington, D.C., to represent his or her state in the National Geographic Bee Championship at National Geographic headquarters.
“The National Geographic Society believes in the power of science, exploration, education and storytelling to change the world,” said National Geographic Society President and CEO Gary Knell in a statement. “Through experiences like the National Geographic Bee, we are creating lifelong learners and educating global citizens, teaching students about the world and how it works, empowering them to succeed and to make it a better place.”
Organizations around Woburn showed their support for Metters as she takes on the Bee.
