Police Log: Burlington Woman Charged After Leaving the Scene of an Accident

Excerpts from the Woburn Police Department log.

Tuesday Aug. 26

At 12:31 p.m, police responded to Inwood Drive after an unoccupied car crashed into a fence. A woman she she parked the car and left it running. She went into an office and thought she put it into park. When she returned, the car had traveled about 100 yards, hit a curb, went through a fence and came to a stop against a fence post. The woman said she went to the car and saw that the shift was not all the way in park.

At 1:28 a.m., police responded to Mishawum Road and Olympia Avenue after a mini-van struck a guard rail. Police arrived and found the car was unoccupied. The impact of the crash had dislodged the guardrail. A witness reported seeing the driver get out of the vehicle and leave the scene. Police found that the car belonged to a 35-year-old Burlington woman. Police summonsed the woman to court and charged her with leaving the scene of a property damage accident.
