Police Log: Egg-Throwing Teens Hit Man in the Face

Tuesday, Nov. 4
At 7:30 a.m., police responded to a North Maple Street business after someone cut a padlock on a gate and stole a pickup truck that was carrying a number of items, including leaf blowers, a weed whacker, a compactor, a tool box set, a mini drill and hand tools. A possible suspect has been identified.
At 8:02 p.m., police placed a 56-year-old homeless man into protective custody after police found the man sleeping on the sidewalk near A.C. Moore. Police found several empty vodka nips in his pocket.

Wednesday Nov. 5
At 12:07 a.m., police responded to Wade Avenue after youths hit a man with several eggs. He said he was raking leaves in front of his house when he saw two teens walking from Ellis Court onto Wade Avenue. The youths threw several eggs at him and struck him in the face with one egg. The teens ran down Salem Street toward Main Street. The man suffered a small scratch under his eye, but he declined medical treatment.
