Police Log: Malden Man Charged With Trying to Steal End Table From TJ Maxx & More

Monday, Sept. 29

At 7:34 a.m., an officer saw a pedestrian struck by a car on Main Street. The pedestrian suffered a minor injury to his left knee. The pedestrian was taken to the hospital. The driver wasn’t cited in the crash.

At 9:48 a.m., a Munroe Avenue resident reported someone entered an unlocked vehicle, rummaged through the vehicle and stole a Kindle.

At 10:41 a.m., the owners of a Woburn business reported that someone hacked into the business’ Yahoo email and sent emails to customers asking them to deposit money into a bank account. A customer contacted the owners about the email. No fraudulent transactions occurred. Also, one of the owners reported that the IRS notified her about a claim for a tax refund on her 2013 taxes had been filed by someone using her name and Social Security number. The resident said she hasn’t filed her 2013 taxes yet. She also received a $53 bill from TurboTax for services rendered for the refund.

At 2:28 p.m., police responded to a three-car accident on Mishawum Road. One driver was taken to Winchester Hospital with minor injuries. Two vehicles were towed.

Tuesday, Sept. 30
At 12:03 p.m., police responded to a two-car accident at Washington and Salem streets. One driver rear-ended another vehicle. There were no injuries. One vehicle was towed.

At 6:13 p.m., police arrested Christopher Lee McLaren, 42, 25 Como St., Malden, and charged him with larceny more than $250. McLaren reportedly tried to steal an end table from TJ Maxx & More. The Malden man said he made a “stupid mistake.”
