POLICE LOG: Man Arrested Running From House-Breaks

An excerpt from the Woburn Police Department's Nov. 30 police log. The following arrest information was supplied by the Woburn Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

The following is an excerpt from the  log. Please note that this is a sampling of activity in the log, not a complete account. We report all arrests included in the daily police log.

Nov. 30 –

At 7:16 a.m., Paulo Dacosta, 39, of 14 Richardson St., was arrested and charged with unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and an outstanding warrant. According to police, a High Street resident reported a white truck was parked in her backyard and a man was sleeping inside. The woman woke the man, who said he had gotten lost and took a wrong turn into her driveway, then into her yard, said police. The man told police he fell asleep when he could not get his truck out of the yard. Royal Towing dislodged the vehicle out of the yard and towed it from the scene. Dacosta was taken into custody. The owner of Dacosta’s vehicle, a business, was cited for allowing unlicensed operation, added police.

At 8:36 a.m., a Scott Street woman reported her car damaged while she was driving on Main Street. Police said the woman heard something strike her car and noticed that her right side-view mirror was damaged.

At 10:21 a.m., Nicholas Colby Jewett, 20, of 45 Marlboro Road, was arrested and charged with attempt to commit a crime and receiving stolen property over $250. According to police, dispatch received a report of a house-break on Emeline Street. When officers arrived, a woman pointed toward Jewett, who was running from the scene, and shouted, “There he goes.” Police caught Jewett, who was found with a Movado Sapphire watch and a wedding ring in his possession. Police said Jewett refused to answer questions on why the watch was in his pocket and not on his wrist, and why he was seen running from Emeline Street. .

At 11:10 a.m., a Cambridge Road man reported his apartment broken into and a large plastic water cooler jug filled with change was taken. According to police, the jug was taken from the bedroom closet and nothing else was stolen. The jug contained approximately $250 in change.

At 3:51 p.m., a Woburn woman reported receiving several suspicious phone calls from a man claiming to be from a Medical Car Services Ratification Department of the National Medical Office in New York. According to the woman, the man had some of her personal information. Police advised the woman to report the incident to her bank and credit card. Police said they were unable to find any evidence of a company with that name in existence on the Internet.

At 4:54 p.m., a Woburn woman reported her boyfriend had her iPhone and would not return it. Police spoke to the man, who said he did have the iPhone and gave it to the officer to return to his girlfriend.

At 6:40 p.m., police received a report of harassing text messages. According to police, a man was harassing his ex-girlfriend’s mother because he blamed her for the couple’s break-up. Police advised the woman on how to get a harassment protection order through Woburn District Court.

At 7:09 p.m., police responded to a two-car accident on Main Street. According to police, one car stopped for a pedestrian who was crossing the street when it was rear-ended by another car. The other driver told police the car stopped short for the pedestrian and she did not have time to stop.
