Police Log: Rite Aid Employee Saves Customer From Being Scammed
Excerpts from the Woburn Police Department log.

Tuesday, Nov. 18
At 2:19 a.m., police responded to a car accident on Main Street. A driver said he was looking down while driving and when he looked up he struck a parked car. There were no front tires or front license plate and bumper on the man’s vehicle. When questioned about the tires and front license plate and bumper and whether he was involved in another accident, the man reportedly became uncooperative. Police explained to the man that he was driving only on rims, but the driver said he did not get into another accident. Both vehicles were towed.
At 7:30 a.m., police responded to Churchill Road after someone entered a vehicle overnight. An iPad and wallet were taken. The man’s credit card was used at multiple locations, including a Hess station, Sonic and CVS. Police believe the car was unlocked.

At 9:54 a.m., a Sheridan Street resident reported someone entered his unlocked vehicle and stole a GPS, prescription reading glasses, Ray Ban sunglasses and two inexpensive pairs of sunglasses. The glasses were smashed on the roadway.
At 11:03 a.m., a Woburn resident told police she received a call from someone claiming that he was from the IRS. He said she owed more than $3,000 and she needed to pay to avoid being fined. She was told to buy a Green Dot money order. Not realizing that she was being scammed, the woman went to Rite Aid to buy the money order. The Rite Aid employee told the woman that she was being scammed.

At 11:17 a.m., a Canterbury Road resident reported identity theft. She said someone used her credit card for almost $1,000 at a Macy’s in Virginia.
At 12:51 p.m., police responded to McDonald’s after a truck struck the overhead light in the drive-thru. There was no reported damage.
