Police Log: Woburn Man Reports Multiple Phone Threats Related to Ebola

Excerpts from the Woburn Police Department log.

Tuesday, Oct. 15

At 12:19 a.m., police placed an intoxicated 47-year-old woman into protective custody after a report of a person yelling and banging on a wall on Kilby Street.

At 12:30 p.m., a Woburn resident reported receiving a call from someone claiming that he was from NStar. He said she needed to pay within the hour or her account would be discontinued. The caller hung up when she questioned the caller. She called NStar, which told her that it was a fraudulent call. Police called the number of the caller. The officer said police needed to speak to him and find out where he’s located. The fraudulent caller hung up.

At 3:41 p.m., a Woburn resident reported receiving threatening phone calls, voicemails and text messages over the past week. He said the person claims that he’s going to kill him “because he has the ebola virus.” The calls are coming from New York numbers and the Woburn man said he’s worried because he’s seen cars with New York license plates recently. Police told him to call them if he can figure out who is calling him.

At 7:12 p.m., police responded to a two-car accident at Main and Fowle streets. One driver complained of rib pain, but refused to be taken to a hospital.

At 9:25 p.m., police recovered a gray Nishiki mountain bike on a Main Street sidewalk.
