Police Log: Woman Reportedly Steals Tea Light Candle, Paperweight in Shape of John Lennon

Thursday, Oct. 23

At 9:22 a.m., police responded to Mishawum Road and Main Street after a driver in a tractor trailer struck a crosswalk pole. The Fire Department disconnected the wires for safety reasons.

At 10:13 a.m., an employee at Kay’s Hallmark reported a shoplifter stole items on Oct. 13. The woman was in the store with a young child. The child was knocking over items and the staff was paying attention to the child. Meanwhile, the woman reportedly stole a tea light candle and a ceramic paperweight in the shape of John Lennon. The stolen items are valued at about $35. Police saw the theft later on video surveillance. The woman, a 43-year-old Arlington resident, has been identified. She also has an open shoplifting case that happened on Oct. 18 in Cambridge. Police advised the store to give a no trespass order to the woman.

At 11:17 a.m., a Sturgis Street resident reported that someone damaged four tires, which were in storage. The tires were sliced.

At 12:21 p.m., police responded to a Woburn office. The owner of the business told police that his office manager had been giving herself pay raises of about $35,000 over the last two years. He said he set up a meeting with her and gave her the evidence. She, in turn, left the office. The owner said he wants to prosecute.

At 12:30 p.m., a Catarina Lane resident reported wallets were stolen from two unlocked cars.

At 2:39 p.m., police arrested James F. Lawton, 27, 262 East St., Lexington, and charged him on arrest warrants for two counts of receiving stolen property less than $250 and one count each for larceny more than $250 and breaking and entering into a building in the daytime to commit a felony. Police made the arrest on Pleasant Street after an officer spotted Lawton.

Saturday, Oct. 25

At 9:02 a.m., police summonsed a 20-year-old Woburn man to court and charged him with operating a motor vehicle without a license and speeding. Police reportedly clocked him going at least 45 mph in a 30 mph zone on Lexington Street to Burlington Street.

At 12:36 p.m., a Wyman Street landlord reported that someone professionally sanded a vacant apartment’s floors. About 90% of the work was done, which is when police believe the workers realized they had the wrong address. The landlord said the floors didn’t need sanding and now he has to have the job completed before he can rent the apartment.

At 3:36 p.m., police arrested Justin Boris Wright, 25, 81 Clifton St., Apt. 2, Cambridge, and charged him with larceny more than $250 and shoplifting more than $100 by concealing merchandise. Police said he tried to steal more than $4,400 worth of clothing.
