Pot Dispensary Set To Open In Woburn

WOBURN, MA — Woburn's first medical marijuana dispensary is scheduled to open later this month. Sanctuary Medicinals, which operates a similar facility in Plymouth, NH and a recreational marijuana store in Gardner, will be located at 130 Commerce Way. The new facility has about 4,500 square feet, more than double the size of Sanctuary's Gardner location.

In addition to its two existing stores and the new Woburn location, Sanctuary has plans to open dispensaries in Danvers, Brookline, on Newbury Street in Boston and in Conway, NH. Woburn City Council approved a special permit for Sanctuary in September.

Patients who want to purchase marijuana from Sanctuary need to get a a medical marijuana prescription card from Massachusetts Department of Public Health. The facility would be the only one of its kind on the Interstate 93 corridor from Somerville to the New Hampshire, officials from the company said.
