St. Charles' Showcases Historic Organ at Upcoming Recital
Performance is Sept.18 at 3 p.m.

The following announcement was provided by St. Charles Church:
Mr. Kevin Durkin, the newly appointed Director of Music at 280 Main St., will present an organ recital in the parish church at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 18.
The program includes music of Alain, Bach, Boellmann, Mendelssohn and others. A free will offering will be accepted.
St. Charles Borromeo Church houses a historic Hook and Hastings pipe organ, built for the church in 1872. While the instrument is vastly intact from the original installation, it is in need of restorative
work. The parish is currently working to document the history and significance of this beautiful instrument.
Mr. Durkin was appointed the Director of Music at St. Charles Borromeo Church in the summer of 2011. He is charged with directing the comprehensive music program, including growing the adult choir, and
creating a children’s choir. He previously served as Director of Vocal Music and Chair of the Fine Arts Department at Canisius High School (Buffalo, NY), as well worked in parish churches and cathedrals in
Buffalo, NY and Washington, DC. He holds a master’s degree in music from the University at Buffalo. He brings youthful energy and wide professional experience to his position.
