State Police ID Victim of the Fatal Columbus Day Crash in Woburn

State Police on Wednesday identified the victim of the crash on Monday, Oct. 13, as Hung Nguyen, 39, of Lowell.

State police issued a correction on their official news blog just before 1 p.m. Wednesday, because on Monday, state police said a 37-year-old woman from Lowell was dead.

According to state police, a sports utility vehicle driven by Nguyen drove off the roadway.

State police from the Danvers barracks were in charge of the investigation. Authorities are not sure why the vehicle veered off the paved roadway.

The facts and circumstances remain under investigation with the assistance of troopers from the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and Crime Scene Services Section.

Nguyen, who was the operator and sole occupant of the vehicle, was determined to be deceased at the scene.
