Tough Start to the Season for the C Team

It was a tough start to the season for the Hanson Electric C team who fell to the Everett Eagles,
0-14, on Sunday at Everett Memorial Stadium.

Woburn’s offense started the day on the field but was forced to punt after four plays. The Eagles’
only score on offense came early in the first quarter with a pass into the endzone.

Two unfortunate turnovers stopped Woburn’s momentum on offense and chances of putting
points on the board. Everett was unable to capitalize on the fumble they recovered, but late in the
first half, Woburn’s drive was cut short when the Eagles intercepted the ball and ran it back for
six points. The Eagles converted the extra point, taking the score to 0-14 into halftime.

A defensive battle ensued for the remainder of the game with both teams preventing each offense
from scoring. Standout defensive play by John Lafferty, Jared Zolubos, Kyle Almeida, John
Zakrewski, Jonathan Avery, Ryan Ludwig, Tyrese Jones, Issac Gouveia, Terrell Jones, Alec
Cruz, David Langlois, Nicholas Newman, and Ty Price, kept Everett out of the endzone the
remainder of the game.

Despite a valiant effort and encouraging cheers from the C Team cheerleading squad, Woburn
was unable to overcome the deficit. The Trojan offense impressed the entire game but were
unable to put enough together to score.

Others earning recognition for their great play include Jack Aylward, Jayson Blouin, Nick
Coviello, Ryan Dever, Derek Fox, Malique Hoang-Cabral, John Kyle, Douglas Lynch, Michael
Mercer, George Paez, Jared Riordan, James Taft, and Logan Wilson.
